IGOS was established by Prof. Ahmed Ali Ahmed in 2002, in Nairobi, Kenya. He is a leading educationist who believes in knowledge being powered by its routine application which in turn evolves into becoming wisdom.
As a visionary, he has created an extraordinarily diverse and wonderfully creative community that provides an inspiring environment within which young people live and learn together. As a dynamic and forward-thinking school. We strive to develop resilient individuals who not only think creatively but also act ethically and with responsibility. We encourage our students to express themselves with confidence, to embody the value of speaking respectfully to others, but also in a way that is true to themselves and their beliefs…
Our students receive the social-emotional, cognitive, health and community support necessary to be successful by the end of Grade 3.
Our students are challenged and supported within a safe learning environment to be responsible and productive global citizens, capable of meeting high expectations.
Students take ownership of their school and have a vested interest in creating an environment that encourages responsibility, mutual trust, and personal growth.
Our students progress at a pace that closes the achievement gap and hence meet or exceed academic standards in academic subjects. IGOS is distinguished by its commitment to academic excellence, talented faculty, and learning that is joyful, engaging, experiential, and enduring.
Our students demonstrate global competitiveness, creative thinking, and innovation through effective reasoning, communication, and advocacy for themselves and their community.
Our students graduate from high school with a post-secondary plan together with the experiences and preparation to execute their life plan successfully after high school.
IGOS has grown naturally in a community that extends beyond each individual classroom through the connection of parents who are IGOS graduates. Our inclusive ethos ensures the learning enrichment needs of each and every child are identified, regularly assessed and provided for while promoting community equality. Our learning environment at IGOS encourages independence, interdependence and self-motivation. Students are challenged and supported to develop deep thinking, applications and mastery of the learning material.
The language curriculum is characterized as providing rich listening, speaking, reading and writing experiences. Children form connections to language, math and science in their environment.
The physical education curriculum lays emphasis on the development of gross motor skills, stamina, flexibility, balance, strength and overcoming fear.
Concrete materials, relevant situations and games are used to explore a mathematical concept.
The science curriculum provides opportunities to explore, experiment, observe, and draw conclusions.
Promoting self-directed thinking that produces new and innovative ideas and solves problems; reflecting critically on learning experiences and processes and making effective decisions.
Learners are guided to gain knowledge and skills, understanding through experience, study, and interactions with others. To understand own multiple intelligence and learning styles, manage their own learning, value individual strengths and set goals.
Learners are advised to become self-aware and self-directed who set and pursue goals. To make thoughtful decisions, regarding their health and well-being, finance and career pathway. To be committed, confident, goal-oriented, healthy self-aware, self-reliant individuals
Developing the skills to discover, acquire and communicate knowledge and information in a globalized economy; using technology to reinforce, extend and deepen learning through international collaboration.
Education is a life-long process, only able to be fully achieved through a collaborative learning community that is built on integrity, high expectations, and mutual respect and support. We must provide appropriate educational opportunities for each student that are commensurate with his/her individual needs and abilities.
We provide each of our students with access to a rigorous curriculum and high levels of interaction, engagement, and teaming that will serve to prepare them for college, career, and life.
With parental and community support and involvement from all stakeholders, we can build an environment where children have no option but to succeed.
We welcome and celebrate different perspectives to help our children, our school and our community.
We help your child see the world differently, discover opportunities you may never have imagined and achieve results that bridge what is with what can be.
